When was the last time you heard those words? Graduation doesn't mean the end of your time representing Simmons on the water. Friends of Sharks Crew competes each year in the Head of the Charles Women's Alumnae events as the Simmons Alumnae Rowing Club, as well as in other fall local regattas. 

With hundreds of Simmons Rowing alum, we understandably receive more interest than seats available. Through development and advancement of FSC, we hope to one day provide rowing opportunities to all interested alums. In the meantime, we aim to go fast and have fun! 
 

Head of the Charles 2024

 
Simmons Alumnae Rowing Club will be fielding our automatic entry in the Womens Alumnae 4+ event at the 2024 Head of the Charles Regatta. The competition in the Alum 4+ race grows every year and we aim to put together the strongest lineup in our entry. 2023 Head of the Charles
Event: Alumnae 4+
Results: 10th
Simmons' Alumnae 4+ raced shortly after the Alum 8+ under similar weather conditions. The boat's lineup consisted of competitors who have all graduated from Simmons within the past 5 years. Crossing the finish with a time of 20:09.6, the 4+ placed 10th in the 26-competitor event, qualifying for an automatic entry to next year's HOCR Alum 4+ race.
2023 Head of the Charles
Event: Alumnae 8+
Results: 50th
The Simmons Alumnae 8+ lineup consisted of competitors spanning a decade of Simmons Crew alums, some hitting the water for the first time since graduation. Posting a final time of 21:12.43, the 8+ raced under rainy conditions for a sizable crowd of Simmons parents, friends, and supporters cheering them on.
2023 Head of the Kevin
Event: Open 4+
Results: 22:23.4 (Time)
The second Head of the Charles time trial for the Simmons Alum yielded a final time of 22:23.4. The 4+ lineup, another mix of HOCR 4+ and 8+ competitors, traversed the Charles course among hundreds of other rowers testing their speed and steering for the upcoming HOCR regatta.
2023 Textile River Regatta
Event: Womens Masters 8+
Results: 4th
The "Masters" Sharks hit the Merrimack River in Lowell for the Textile River Regatta. Racing in the Masters event, Simmons Alum placed fourth on the water against eight other boats. The 8+ lineup consisted of a mix of competitors for the upcoming Head of the Charles Alum 4+ and 8+ entries.
2023 Head of the Kurmakov
Event: Open 4+
Results: 24:18.7 (Time)
Simmons Alumnae raced in the 2023 Head of the Kurmakov, the Head of the Charles time trial named in honor of late Simmons Coach Nik Kurmakov. The lineup consisted of competitors for the 2023 HOCR Simmons 8+, prepping for their race next month. They turned in a final time of 24:18.7, racing the HOCR course from the Boston University Boathouse to the finish line upstream of Eliot Bridge.
2022 Head of the Charles
Event: Women's Alumnae 4+
Results: 4th
The Simmons alum boat at the 2022 HOCR placed fourth, crossing the finish with a time of 20:12.077 and beating fierce competition including Boston University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Middlebury College, and Georgetown University crews. The boat’s 4th place finish is one of the highest for a Simmons boat in HOCR history and secures Simmons an automatic entry in the Women's Alumnae Fours event at the 2023 regatta.
2021 Head of the Charles
Event: Women's Alumnae 8+
Results: 40th
Simmons' alum Sharks placed 40th in the Women's Alumnae Eights event at the 2021 Head of the Charles, racing against primarily Division 1 and 2 schools. The Simmons alums crossed the finish line with a time of 19:37.726, beating familiar collegiate competitors Wellesley College Alumnae and Middlebury Alum. The alum competitors also raised over $9000+ for Simmons Crew in memory of Coach Nik Kurmakov.
2019 Head of the Charles
Event: Women's Alumnae 8+
Results: 31st
The alumnae/i Sharks placed 31st of 44 boats in the Women's Alumni 8+ event at the 55th Head of the Charles, finishing with a time of 19:32.408 and beating several formal rivals including Colby College Alum, Middlebury College Alum, and University of Vermont Alum. 
2018 Seven Sisters Championship Regatta
Event: Women's Alumnae 8+
Results: 2nd
Simmons alumnae/i raced an exhibition race of one and a quarter miles at the 2018 Seven Sisters Championship Regatta. The 8+ finished second with a time of 9:02.1, beating Smith, Mount Holyoke, and two Wellesley boats. Bryn Mawr placed first with a time of 8:55.9.
